Frequently Asked Questions

Booking through Rodavia connects you with local rental companies across Fiji. Below are answers to the most common questions we receive about the process, documentation, and driving conditions on the islands.

How does the booking process work?

You search available vehicles on our platform, select dates and location, then complete the booking advance online. Within hours you receive a voucher by email listing the rental company name, their address, phone number, and your reservation reference. The voucher is your confirmation - present it at the counter on pickup day.

Can I change or cancel my booking?

Cancellation and modification terms depend on the rate chosen. Many bookings allow free cancellation up to 48 hours before pickup; others are non-refundable but cost less. Check the fare rules shown during checkout. To request changes, email us or use the contact form with your booking reference.

What documents do I need at pickup?

Bring your printed or mobile voucher, a valid driver licence held for at least two years, passport, and a credit card in the driver's name for the security hold. If your licence uses non-Latin script, an International Driving Permit is required alongside the original licence.

What are the age and experience requirements?

Minimum driver age is typically 21 years, with at least two years of licence history. Some vehicle categories - larger SUVs or vans - require the driver to be 25 or older. A young-driver surcharge may apply for renters under 25; the voucher will note any additional fee.

Is a security hold taken at the counter?

Yes. The rental company will place an authorization hold on your credit card to cover the excess amount stated in your insurance terms. The hold is released after the vehicle is returned undamaged, usually within seven to fourteen days depending on your card issuer.

What is the fuel policy?

Most agreements use full-to-full: you collect the vehicle with a full tank and return it full. Receipts from the last fill-up should be kept. If you return the vehicle with less fuel, the company will charge for the missing litres plus a refueling service fee. Stations are plentiful along Queens Road and in Nadi, less frequent on side roads.

Can I take the vehicle on a ferry to other islands?

Ferry transport to Vanua Levu or other islands is generally not permitted under standard rental agreements. If you plan inter-island travel, mention it when booking so we can confirm whether the supplier allows it and what additional insurance or fees apply. Most visitors stay on Viti Levu, where the sealed road network covers Nadi, Suva, and the Coral Coast.

What if I have an accident or breakdown?

Call the emergency number printed on your rental agreement immediately. The company will arrange roadside assistance or a replacement vehicle. For accidents, obtain a police report - required by all insurers in Fiji. Do not leave the scene before the authorities arrive. Your voucher lists the supplier's 24-hour emergency contact.

Are there mileage limits?

Most bookings include unlimited kilometres. A few budget rates cap daily distance; any restriction will appear clearly on the search results and voucher. Viti Levu's round trip via both Queens and Kings roads is roughly 400 km, easily covered even with a modest daily allowance.
